Opening Salvo

Having commited to starting this posting, this is my first foray into putting down memories, thoughts, and stories so that my children would have a written record. It seems that oral history has been taking a back seat, perhaps due to distance and time, so this hopefully will help in passing on simple thoughts, advice, and memories.
